Apple’s FineWoven accessories could be discontinued

Now there are indications that Apple may discontinue the FineWoven material as stocks are rapidly dwindling ahead of the iPhone 16 event on September 9.

Quickread: At a glance

  • Apple may discontinue FineWoven accessories.
  • Several users complain about the quality.
  • Stocks are running out quickly.

Apple describes FineWoven as a “luxurious and durable micro twill.” FineWoven products are priced at $59 for iPhone cases, $59 for MagSafe Wallets, $35 for AirTag holders, and $99 for Apple Watch bands. However, many customers find the quality of FineWoven products to be inferior compared to Apple’s previous leather cases. There are numerous reports of scratches, stains, and discoloration on the fabric.

Back in April, Apple leaker and prototype collector Kosutami claimed that Apple had stopped producing FineWoven accessories due to concerns over the company’s design. However, he did not rule out that there could be a final round of FineWoven products, possibly in new colors. However, FineWoven accessories in new color options were not found in Apple’s spring update.

In particular, Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman reports that stocks of iPhone cases and Apple Watch bands in FineWoven material are currently at an all-time low. This suggests that Apple is either planning to discontinue FineWoven or update the range with new colours and models for the latest iPhones and Apple Watches.
