Witnesses sought for fatal attack on chef Mussie Imnetu

Chef Mussie Imnetu, 41, was found unconscious in Queensway with a head injury shortly before 11.30pm on August 26.

Officers administered first aid until paramedics arrived. Mussie was then taken to a hospital in west London, where he died four days later.

The incident occurred outside the Dr. Power restaurant after the Notting Hill Carnival.

It is believed that Mussie was visiting the UK at the time from Dubai, where he lived and worked.

Police have now released images of 16 witnesses who they believe may have information about the attack.

Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie, who is leading the investigation, said a man had been charged in connection with the incident.

He added, however, that police were still keen to contact anyone who could help reconstruct Mussie’s activities on the day of the attack.

It is believed that the 41-year-old left the Arts Club on Dover Street at around 1pm and arrived at Dr Power’s restaurant at around 10.30pm.

DCI Howie said: “We have images of a number of people who were in or near the Dr Power restaurant at the time of the attack.

“Are you one of the people pictured or do you recognize anyone? Did you hear or see anything before or after the attack that could help with the investigation?”

“I would like to stress that none of the people pictured have done anything wrong.

“They may have enjoyed the post-Carnival festivities and may not live in the area, but they may have information that is important to the investigation and I urge them to contact us.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101, message @MetCC on X or contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting reference number 8020/26AUG and the number on the photograph they are providing information about.
