First CSD in Albstadt

“The table is set for the first CSD in the Zollernalb district,” says a press release from the organizers. The CSD begins on September 6th at 6.30 p.m. on the Bürgerturmplatz in Ebingen with a rally.

The event is organized by the Jusos Zollernalb and the youth initiative Immerwaslos. They want to set an example for an open and tolerant society.

Uwe Grau from OutInChurch and trans* pastor Schelle will also speak on the rally stage, as will Roland Fritsch from AIDS-Hilfe Tübingen-Reutlingen. Lena Mispelhorn from Queer-Cafe in Balingen will report on what queer life is like in the region. And politics will also be represented by Florian Wahl, MdL, and the Bundestag member Robin Mesarosch.

Limited tickets for party

After the rally, the first queer party will start at 8 p.m. in the KulTurm. “Unfortunately, we only have a limited number of tickets available, all of which are free, as capacity is limited.” But who knows where ‘our’ CSD will end up in the future if the response is good,” says Kevin Paal from the Jusos Zollernalb.

The organizers want to invite queer people first and foremost. But “all other happy and friendly people,” say the organizers, “should also feel called upon to come to the Albstadt Pride.”

“In order to be sustainable in times of demographic change, Albstadt must show its humanity. This also includes fully accepting queer people,” says social worker and co-organizer Peter Demmer, chairman of the Immerwaslos association.

Folder requirements doubled

Christopher Street Day commemorates the events of June 28, 1969 on Christopher Street in New York, when the LGBTQIA+ community first stood up against state arbitrariness and discrimination. Today, CSD stands worldwide for the rights and acceptance of lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgender and other queer people.

In their press release, the organizers also provide information about the “counter-demonstration” planned by right-wing extremists and call for a peaceful CSD. The city administration and police, they say, are taking appropriate measures. “We have voluntarily doubled the city’s steward requirements for our rally,” say the organizers. An awareness team will also be on hand.

According to the press release, the organizers want “a peaceful, positive, happy and colorful festival” and no aggression. “If we can work together,” say Kevin Paal and Peter Demmer, “to ensure that everything runs smoothly, then perhaps the second CSD in the district won’t have to wait as long as the first.”
