Offenburg Ten teams competed “Imposand” is tennis village champion in Nordrach News from Ortenau

The names of the ten participating teams alone promised great tennis at the village championships in Nordrach. The spectators were not disappointed.

Last Sunday, TC Nordrach 2000 invited people to take part in the tennis village championship for the first time. Ten teams registered, and it exceeded all expectations.

Sports director Axel Christensen moderated the event in his usual routine manner. The event began at 10 a.m. and the games ended as planned at 6 p.m. Only doubles were played, in two groups, each game lasting 20 minutes.

Funny names

The list of participants was promising in terms of the names and at the same time promised great tennis: Onkel Jo, Querschläger, Untertäler 1, 2 and 3, Schlecht-Schmetter-Duo, Stammtisch 2000, Imposand, SKC Nordrach, Die Schmedderlinge.

Numerous spectators came and cheered loudly on their team. Some even did Mexican waves to encourage the players.

In the group matches, “Onkel Jo” won Group A confidently and undefeated, as did “Imposand” in Group B. The final round then took place, with the teams in the same ranking competing against each other. The “Querschläge Ehrer” lived up to their name and ended up in last place, albeit only after a tough fight against the SKC. “Stammtisch 2000” came in third place. In the final, “Imposand” clearly beat “Onkel Jo” 5:1.

As with every competition, there were winners and runners-up at the end. The sporting result at the end of the exciting encounters was: 1. Imposand, 2. Onkel Jo, 3. Stammtisch 2000, 4. Untertäler 1, 5. Die Schmedderlinge, 6. Schlecht-Schmetter-Duo, 7. Untertäler 3, 8. Untertäler 2, 9. SKC Nordrach, 10. Die Querschläger.

The chairman of the tennis club, Frank Wieland, and sports director Axel Christensen conducted the acclaimed award ceremony and afterwards the participants and their supporters celebrated late into the night.
