Update to version 7.2 brings new features

Are there people among you who miss the good old QuickTime Player 7 that you used to use on your Mac to play audio and video content? I have good news for all of you today: The QuickTune 7 app (download link) brings the retro-style mini player for playing Apple Music content back to your Mac. The latest version 7.2 has a few new features waiting for you.

The QuickTime Player is still part of macOS, but is probably rarely used at the moment. For those who have been socialized with the QuickTime Player and iTunes, developer Mario Guzman has developed QuickTune 7, a mini player that applies the retro design of QuickTime 7 to your Apple Music content.

Once you have downloaded the app, you can use various configuration options to determine the appearance of the player. With the update to version 7.2, the “Mac OS X Leopard” option is available. This means that the player will appear in the styling of the QuickTime Player, as it looked under Mac OS X Leopard. Apple launched this operating system in 2007. It’s a long one.

I still remember it well and had to smile when I saw the iBook G4s that developer Guzman uses as an advertising tool on his website. That was my first Apple device.

With QuickTune 7.2 you can now also access Apple Music radio stations and have the station name and information about the current song displayed in the “LCD ticker” below the cover graphic.

Download and use for free

You can download QuickTune 7 for free from the developer’s website. Developer Mario Guzman would be happy to receive a donation to his coffee fund.
