Westerstede/Rastede – To find a title win for Westersteder TV in the Weser-Ems Cup, you have to look pretty far back into the club’s history. Because what Hanna Coordes and Anastasia Vishenska have now achieved was last achieved by club boss Tim Isermann (who now plays in the men’s 40 age group) when he was still playing in the Junior A team.

At the facility in Dinklage, Vishenska and Coordes beat TC Dinklage 2:1 and were able to celebrate their cup coup in the junior women’s A class. “We actually had nothing to lose against the much older team from Dinklage,” said WTV coach Bayram Kaya: “That’s why this triumph is particularly high.”

The winner on Saturday was Vishenska, who managed a 6:1, 6:0 victory against Fiona Adamovitch. The twelve-year-old Coordes, on the other hand, had to admit defeat to Charleen Elsässer with 4:6, 0:6, but also showed good progress that the Friedeburg native has made since moving to Westerstede in the winter. “That’s the nice thing about the team competition. In the semifinals it was exactly the other way round, Anastasia was not in a good mood and Hanna was much better. “So the two always balanced each other out,” said Kaya.

After the 1:1 in the doubles, the decision had to be made in the doubles as well. The hosts got off to a better start and went ahead 7:5. “After that, Dinklage became very passive and Anastasia and Hanna became stronger and stronger,” praised Kaya. The Westerstede team took advantage of the mistake and equalized at 6:0. In the match tiebreak, a quick 4:1 lead provided the necessary calm to win the game 9:3 and 10:5. “The girls carried the momentum from the clear second set well,” praised Kaya.

The four-woman junior team from Rasteder TC was not able to win the title. In Dinklage, the Ammerland team lost 1:5 to Polizei SV Oldenburg in the final. In the quarter-finals, the Rasteder team defeated TC SR Papenburg 5:1, followed by a 4:2 victory against TSV Wallenhorst in the semi-finals.

In the final, however, the Oldenburg team clearly set the tone. Only Mette Martens was able to defeat Greta Ickert with 6:1, 6:1. Her Rastede teammates Leana Meyer (2:6, 2:6), Carolina Bohlen (0:6, 0:6) and Lea Braukmann (0:6, 1:6) clearly lost their singles. There were also defeats in the doubles for Martens/Meyer (3:6, 3:6) and Jolina Norder/Braukmann (3:6, 2:6).
