“Duke Rider”: Millions watch videos of Mühlviertler biker

Andi Burgschachner pursues his passion for motorcycling at hill climbs and on race tracks. He has well over 100,000 followers on Instagram alone.

KATSDORF. Andi Burgschachner has published 1,700 posts on Instagram so far – and the interest in his content is enormous. The 32-year-old now has 117,000 followers on his channel. His top post: a slow motion recording of training on the race track in Jerez, Spain, reached 7.7 million viewers and 330,000 likes. The clip of his new machine on the test bench was watched by 5.1 million people. His predominantly male viewers come from all over the world – Burgschachner edits and cuts all of the posts for the Internet himself.

Collaboration with manufacturer KTM

The married father of a family from Katsdorf combines his passion for motorcycling with that for marketing. An Austrian motorcycle manufacturer is also a competent expert in this field: Burgschachner is currently driving a 196 hp, 191 kg “KTM 1390 Superduke R” from the naked series. He has been working for the Innviertel company since 2018. His greatest successes: He holds the track record for naked bikes at the Pannonia Ring. At the hill climb in Landshaag and Julbach, he celebrated victories in the “Specialbikes” and “KTM DukeBattle” classes.

Impressions from the Landshaag Hill Climb 2024:

Conversion of the machine into a “unique piece”

“When I got my driver’s license at 18, I developed a passion for motorcycling. In 2015, I started motorsports on the race track,” says Burgschachner, looking back on the beginnings. And he adds: “I love riding a unique bike, and I completely rebuild my motorcycle. I think that’s why I get so many followers who want to see something special.” On his current “machine,” for example, he has fitted a new footrest system, handlebars and chassis. It is “the best and most expensive modified ‘Superduke’ motorcycle in the world.”

“I’m all about perfection”

His videos and photos are from race tracks, his machine is not even approved for road use. “I want to get the last tenth out of it: in terms of construction and driving, I’m concerned with perfection and details.” The man from Mühlviertel is not a stunt driver, but wheelies can be seen in his videos. Racing is known to involve accidents. In July, he slipped on an oil slick in Hungary and broke his metacarpal bone.

Exchange with fans and like-minded people

For Burgschachner, exchanging ideas with like-minded people is also important. On Instagram, he receives many questions about certain components and the correct riding style. He has built up a WhatsApp community that now has 500 riders of “Duke” motorcycles. For five years, he has been organizing so-called “DukeTrackDays” on race tracks in Europe.

“Turn your passion into your career”

He is now bringing his experience and reach to a new project: On October 1st, Andi Burgschachner is opening his online shop at www.ab-moto.com. There you can find motorcycle parts, protective clothing and personalized leather clothing from the Czech supplier PSí Hubík. “I am turning my passion into my job and taking care of German-speaking sales. I want to protect motorcyclists as well as possible with the right safety clothing. The leather comes from Italy and the production takes place in the Czech Republic.”

“SuperHooligan” race as a big dream

Since this year, the “Duke Rider” has been increasing his activities on YouTube, where he currently has “only” 7,500 subscribers. The professionals from “RackingMedium” are accompanying him to the race. The Katsdorf native has a big dream: to take part in an American naked bike championship race – the “SuperHooligan National Championship”.
