Kamala Harris will present plans to support small US businesses on Wednesday, her campaign team said. The Democratic presidential candidate is thus making her economic policy more concrete ahead of a crucial debate with Donald Trump.

If elected in November, the US Vice President will propose tax relief and a reduction in bureaucratic hurdles for smaller companies, she said at a campaign event in the state of New Hampshire.

Harris has been riding a wave of enthusiasm since she replaced President Joe Biden as the Democratic nominee and promised an “economy of opportunity,” but has been criticized for failing to detail how she plans to achieve it.

A representative of her campaign team said she would “propose a dramatic tenfold increase in tax breaks for small business startups and set a goal of 25 million new small business tax filings in her first term.”

The plan calls for increasing the tax deduction for small business startup costs from $5,000 to $50,000.

Her speech in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, comes just hours before Republican ex-President Trump takes part in a town hall meeting with Fox News in Harrisburg in the crucial swing state of Pennsylvania.

The two candidates are mainly arguing about taxes. Trump accuses Harris of copying the policy of abolishing the tax on tips for service employees and promising general tax cuts.

Harris, meanwhile, is pushing for tax increases for corporations and wealthier households.

On September 10, Trump and Harris will hold their first presidential debate in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Harris will reportedly stay in the state to prepare for the debate after a campaign trip to Pittsburgh – her second visit to the city this week following a joint appearance with Joe Biden on Monday.

The 59-year-old Democrat has overtaken Trump’s lead in the polls since Biden dropped out of the race just over six weeks ago.

According to a USA Today/Suffolk University poll released Tuesday, Harris is ahead of Trump by 48 percent to 43 percent – a difference of eight percentage points from Trump’s lead over Biden at the end of June.

According to the report, she was able to record double-digit gains among important groups, including Hispanic and black voters as well as younger people.

Trump had sharply attacked Harris before her visit, saying there were “problems for her campaign in New Hampshire.”

The 78-year-old said it was because Biden abandoned New Hampshire’s traditional role as the first U.S. state to hold primaries this year. He also blamed the cost of living in the state.

However, New Hampshire is not considered one of the swing states expected to decide the November election.

This party has voted Democrat for the past twenty years, and leading election forecaster Larry Sabato recently downgraded the party in his ratings from “somewhat Democratic” to “likely Democratic.”
