Eiichiro Oda’s globally popular shonen manga and anime One Piece has an incredible variety of characters. From the main characters of the Straw Hat Pirates to supporting characters like Bartolomeo and DaDan, there are countless characters created by Eiichiro Oda.

Fans are naturally wondering if there is a character that the One Piece mangaka has the most trouble drawing. Oda gives a surprising answer: It is Franky in his Shogun form. The One Piece creator even describes it as torture to draw him.

Eiichiro Oda answered questions from readers of One Piece volume 69. Since One Piece has an incredible number of characters, a fan named Noel wanted to know which character was the most difficult for the mangaka to draw.

Oda answers this question with two different characters. The first character mentioned is Franky. Actually, the mangaka means Franky’s shogun form, which is a giant robot.

“Franky Shogun is incredibly nervous to draw. I love designing robots, but having to draw them over and over again is not my thing.”

The second answer that the One Piece creator gave to the question was the female characters in the story, in addition to the robots. In his opinion, it takes him longer to draw women than men.

Black-haired female characters in particular cause him problems, as he has to concentrate much more to fill the hair with black ink. Boah Hancock in particular caused him the most problems when drawing her in the manga.

“My answer is Boa Hancock. Knowing that she is the most beautiful woman in the world, she is the hardest to draw.”

So it is either the Straw Hat shipbuilder Franky in his special Shogun form or the Amazon Boa Hancock who are an absolute nightmare for Oda. Franky is exhausting because of the repetition and the appearance of Boa Hancock caused him the most difficulties.

Which character from One Piece would Oda have liked to have drawn less so that he wouldn’t be seen so often in the story?
