Lindlar – SSV Süng hosted the Silver Fox Cup for walking football teams for the second time – the trend sport is also on the rise among women.

For the second time after 2022, the walking footballers of SSV Süng hosted the Silver Fox Cup. 18 teams from Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium competed at the Erich Tix sports facility. The guests were welcomed by Lindlar’s mayor Dr. Georg Ludwig, who witnessed a German premiere: for the first time, a German women’s team competed against a female selection from the Dutch first division club Almelo in the opening game of the Silver Fox Cup. The Silver Foxes have installed the first women’s team in the club since spring.

More than 80 matches were played on the four pitches. 1. FC Nuremberg, the defending champions, had to hand over the “Golden Ball” to long-time winner Viktoria Resse from Gelsenkirchen. In the women’s competition, Almelo was unbeatable, with the Süngers taking second place.

Numerous spectators gathered in Hartegasse to get an impression of walking football. In the summer temperatures, cold drinks flowed freely. The Silver Foxes also provided for the physical well-being of the participants and guests with a catering truck and cake counter.

The Silberfuchs Cup is the largest walking football tournament in North Rhine-Westphalia and is held every two years with the sports friends from Gelsenkirchen. Training for the SSV walking footballers takes place every Monday at 7 p.m. For more information, please contact [email protected].
