WhatsApp: New switch gives you more control over your contacts

For some time now, it has been possible to set up a second account on one device on WhatsApp. A second account often brings with it other contacts – some people use this second account for business purposes and thus save themselves a second phone.

The fan blog WABetainfo has discovered a feature in the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.18.14 that should make it possible to manage the contacts of the individual accounts.

Contact synchronization: Separate for each account

The screenshots from WABetainfo show that the messenger is working on an in-app option that allows you to synchronize your contacts independently for each account. WhatsApp has built a corresponding switch into the beta for this purpose.

Currently, you can only turn the permission for WhatsApp to access your contacts on or off in the phone settings. However, if this permission is activated, all contacts on your phone will be displayed in all WhatsApp content. If you want to separate private and business contacts in the messenger, you cannot do this yet.

According to the fan blog, it will also be possible to synchronize individual contacts in the future, even if synchronization is deactivated for the account. Individual contacts can then be manually activated for synchronization.

The new synchronization settings are still under development

WABetainfo writes that the feature for managing and synchronizing contacts on an account basis is currently still under development. The fan blog expects its release in one of the next updates.
