Play videos in the browser: Small tool unlocks secret function

Especially in training courses, lectures or tutorials, it often happens that the lecturers speak very slowly. Especially in times of home office due to Corona, you may have to watch more training courses on the PC, some of which are spoken at a soporific slow pace.

If you don’t have time for that, the Video Speed ​​​​Controller will help you. With a 20-minute video and 1.5x speed, you can save five minutes! You can use the following buttons after starting the video:

• S = gradually slower (default 0.1)
• D = stepwise faster (default 0.1)
• Z = rewind (default 10s)
• X = Fast forward (default 10s)
• R = reset to normal speed
• G = preferred speed (default 1.8)

A small overlay above the video always confirms the input. The default values ​​can be easily adjusted in the settings – if you wish, you can simply deactivate the extensions on certain pages. This is particularly advisable for YouTube, as the platform also uses its own keyboard shortcuts.
