Unmissable film delights and series to watch on Max this month

This month’s top film selection and the exciting series to Binge on Max

There are some fascinating shows and movies coming to Max this month, such as The Owla spin-off series from 2022 Batmanfilm. There is also a comprehensive, two-part documentary about The Godfather and Killer Instinct: The Serial Killer and The Saviora docuseries directed by Michael Bay that deals with a notorious serial killer.

The Owl

This evil backstory reveals the origins of Batman’s arch-enemy, the Owl. The Owl unfolds in the gritty, urban Batman world created by Matt Reeves and features Colin Farrell in his role from Batman as Oswald Cobblepot, an underworld gangster with a sinister plan to take over Gotham City, which I suspect involves turning into an owl and getting revenge on Batman.

Genius Mind David Chase and The Godfather

The Godfather revolutionized television viewing when it debuted in 1972, and Brilliant mindan HBO original docuseries, explores why this series outshone all other shows. Killer Instinct: The Serial Killer and The Savior

Executive Producer Michael Bay’s true crime docuseries delves into some extraordinarily disturbing territory, telling the story of William Hadden Clark, a transvestite, cannibal and serial killer. Killer instinct examined Clark’s crimes and personal history and suggests that humans cannot become so depraved without suffering a significant degree of psychological damage. True crime fans should not miss it.

The Child and the Crane (2023)

Anime master Hayao Miyazaki was awarded The Child and the Crane was praised by critics worldwide and received an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature upon its release, making it a must-see for film connoisseurs. The exquisite, hand-drawn graphics are simply mesmerizing and every frame sparkles with Miyazaki/Studio Ghibli magic.

Refuge in the forest

Every horror movie fan knows that nothing good happens in a cabin deep in the woods, and this Max/Investigation Discovery series knows that rule applies to real life as well. The gruesome incidents and murders depicted in each episode of this true crime show took place in remote, wooden cabins.

I see the television glow (2024)

Director Jane Schoenbrun (We all go to the World Exhibition) continues her investigation of fear and terror behind the pixels in the digital world with I see the TV lights a psychological horror film about a sinister late-night television show called The pink haze. Produced by A24 is I see the TV lights One of those “elevated” horror films, even if you are a horror fan with more than two grey cells, give it a chance.

Put on your robes and wands: Max is flooding its digital channels with Harry Potter content in September, featuring all eight Harry Potter films plus Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone: Magical Movie Mode, which includes directors’ commentary, deleted scenes, and more.

HBO claims that this season, Pierpoint takes a leap into the future by betting on moral investing, while characters like Yasmin, Robert and Eric become central figures in the sensational IPO of Lumi, a green energy company run by Sir Henry Blunderbuss.

Partners in Crime: Solving the Mystery of Lyric and Elizabeth

This HBO original true crime documentary examined the heartbreaking story of the 2012 kidnapping and murder of Lyric Cook-Morrissey and Elizabeth Collins in Evansdale, Iowa. The cousins ​​disappeared while riding bikes near a park, and an unknown assailant abducted them in broad daylight. Their bodies were not found until months later, leaving law enforcement and family members in the dark about the motive and perpetrator.
