PICO 4 Ultra launches in Malaysia for RM2,799

PICO 4 Ultra launches in Malaysia for RM2,799

Last month there were leaks about the so-called PICO 4S, with an alternate name PICO 4 Ultra. Almost a month later, the mixed reality headset has made its way to us under that name. The few details on the spec sheet have proven to be accurate, and now that the launch is behind us, we get access to the rest of what the headset has to offer.

The local launch of the PICO 4 Ultra has confirmed that it does indeed feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 and 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Also now confirmed is the pair of pass-through cameras, which we now know are 32MP units.

Inside, the PICO 4 Ultra has two 2.56-inch screens with a resolution of 2,160 x 2,160 and a refresh rate of 90 Hz, but the rendering resolution is fixed at 1,920 x 1,920. Like the base version, the headset has stereo speakers built in. It also comes with a 5,700 mAh battery.

As the leaks also revealed, the PICO 4 Ultra will come with controllers that do not have Halo, which will instead be powered by AA batteries.

PICO motion tracker

On the other hand, the straps that appeared in the leaks turned out to be so-called PICO motion trackers. This suggests that it is intended to be attached to the ankles and, in conjunction with the controllers, can track all four limbs. These are said to have a battery life of up to 25 hours despite their 220 mAh power.

The PICO 4 Ultra is priced at RM2,799 and will be available starting tomorrow, September 4. The motion trackers will be available starting the same day at a price of RM399, but if you buy them before September 22, you can get them at a slightly lower price. However, the exact prices will depend on whether you buy them from Shopee or Lazada.
