Turkish sensation Yusuf Dikec will make his viral attitude towards the Olympics his trademark

Sensational Turkish pistol shooter Yusuf Dikec has taken legal action to trademark his now iconic pose that captured the world’s attention during the Paris Olympics. Dikec’s casual, hands-in-pocket pose, which became an internet sensation, will now be protected from unauthorized commercial use.

Erdinc Bilgili, Dikec’s coach, reportedly confirmed that the decision to register the pose with the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office was motivated by attempts by various parties to trademark the pose without Dikec’s consent.

Dikec’s relaxed approach on the shooting range, without the typical high-tech equipment, not only earned him a silver medal in the mixed 10m air pistol competition alongside teammate Sevval Ilayda Tarhan, but also sparked a wave of online memes, with fans comparing his laid-back demeanor to that of James Bond.

In an interview, the shooter is said to have said that his relaxed technique enabled him to maintain his balance and keep his body stable.

The viral pose has since been adopted by several other athletes. Notably, Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson mimicked Dikec’s style during a Premier League match against Crystal Palace, celebrating a goal with the same casual hand-in-pocket stance.

Dikec’s image has since been used on a variety of merchandise, including t-shirts, mugs and phone cases.
