The cinema summer is slowly coming to an end and “Deadpool & Wolverine” is still doing well at the box office. Now it has achieved a milestone at the box office.

“Deadpool & Wolverine” is, together with “Inside Out 2”, the success story of the cinema summer of 2024. The R-rated Marvel film will soon exceed the 600 million mark at the US box office and has brought in another 15.1 million US dollars over the Labor Day weekend. On Monday, the box office will probably reach 603.8 million in the US alone and a total of 1.25 billion worldwide.

The film’s records include quickly crossing the billion dollar mark in under a month and becoming the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time, dethroning the man “Joker.”

“Alien: Romulus” also okay

Behind it follows “Alien Romulus”, where according to EW.com Another 9.3 million US dollars were added in the USA itself. So far, 88.7 million US dollars have been brought in there. The seventh part of the Alien franchise added another 22.6 million US dollars internationally and currently stands at 283 million worldwide. The film, which takes place between the two films, has also received quite good reviews from critics – including Serienjunkies.de. What else happened on Labor Day movie weekend?

Third place goes again to It Ends With Us, with another $7.4 million on its home market, bringing its domestic box office total to $133 million and a respectable $283.7 million worldwide.

Labor Day is rarely a good weekend at the box office, and there were a few new releases. Dennis Quaid is currently playing ex-POTUS “Reagan,” which led to a $7.4 million opening in the US.

“Twisters” is also still doing quite well, earning another $7.1 million in the United States. Worldwide, it has now grossed $358 million.
