Rumor has it that Josh Brolin will join the TV series Lanterns as Hal Jordan

The star of “Dune” and “Avengers: Endgame” may take on the iconic role.

After posing as one of the greatest threats the Marvel Cinematic Universe has ever seen as Thanos, actor Josh Brolin could be heading to the world of DC as one of that universe’s most popular heroes. A new rumor suggests that Brolin will play Hal Jordan in the upcoming TV series. LanternsThe rumor comes from podcaster Subscribeas well as Nexus Point Newsalthough the casting has not yet been confirmed by any official source. The upcoming series is said to focus on both Jordan and John Stewart, with no confirmed reports on Stewart’s casting having been released.

The new series will be directed by Chris Mundy (Ozark, True Detective: Nightland) and is co-produced by Mundy, Damon Lindelof (Guardians, The Remains) and fan-favorite comic book author Tom King. Lanterns follows new recruit John Stewart and Lantern legend Hal Jordan, two intergalactic cops who become drawn into a dark Earth-based mystery while investigating a murder in the heartland of the United States.

In 2011, Ryan Reynolds played the role of Hal Jordan in the movie Green Lanternalthough it sounds like this new series will follow a more mysterious plot. Brolin previously starred alongside Reynolds as Cable in Deadpool 2with the actor probably giving Jordan a harder tone, while Reynolds interprets the character in a more sarcastic way.

An actor who is ready to co-star as John Stewart in Lanterns is Aldis Hodge, who previously played Hawkman in Black Adam and has lent his voice to Stewart in animated projects.

“Look, I’m open to anything,” Hodge told ComicBook earlier this year about his move into live-action. “I would love to continue the legacy of Hawkman because we had some great plans for him. But also with John Stewart in a live-action role. I’ve been voicing John Stewart in animation for years. Several years. Phil LaMarr has passed the baton. Kudos to Phil because I’m a huge fan of his work. But if it becomes a movie, absolutely. I mean, it was one of my dreams growing up to be John Stewart in a live-action role.”

In James Gunn’s upcoming SupermanNathan Fillion will debut as Green Lantern Guy Gardner.
