The good news for Alexander Zverev: He has got a doable draw at the US Open. If he wins his opening match against Marterer, the German will also have to play in the second round. The first real test could be in the round of 16 against Holger Rune. In the quarter-finals he could face Casper Ruud or Taylor Fritz – also beatable opponents.

Logically, there would be some tough matches in the semifinals and finals. In the round of the last four, Zverev could face Novak Djokovic, one of the big favorites to win the tournament. The Serb is aiming for his 25th Grand Slam victory. In the final, he will probably face Jannik Sinner or Carlos Alcaraz, who, alongside Djokovic, are currently the most dominant players on the scene.

TV broadcast at the US Open: Here you can watch Alexander Zverev’s games

There is a revolution in the TV broadcast of the US Open: for years, fans were able to watch the games live on free TV on Eurosport, but that is now over. Sportdeutschland.TV has secured the rights, Sky has a sublicense and also shows all the important games. Either way, viewers who want to watch Zverev’s games live need a paid subscription.

Alexander Zverev’s chances at the US Open: Will he win his first Grand Slam title?

As so often, Alexander Zverev is one of the favorites at this year’s US Open. Although the bookmakers give Djokovic, Alcaraz and Sinner better chances of winning the tournament, Zverev, as number four in the seeding list, is considered one of the contenders for the title.

Zverev has already proven in recent years that he can do it on the hard court in New York. After his 2020 final defeat against Austrian Dominic Thiem, he only failed in the semifinals in 2021 and in the quarterfinals last year. “I like the US Open,” said Zverev. “But I’m not a huge fan of New York. I’m someone who loves nature, who likes to be outdoors. You don’t get that in Manhattan.”

One positive is that Zverev now seems to be fit again after his health problems at the Olympic Games. In the dress rehearsal before the US Open in Cincinnati, he only had to admit defeat to Sinner in the semifinals after a tough fight in three sets. This is another reason why Zverev is confident: “In general, I think that I am currently having a very good season and perhaps even playing the best tennis of my life.” Now he has to show that in New York – and finally reward himself with the first Grand Slam title of his career.
