Father with small children robbed on Danube beach: E-bike and child trailer stolen

“On Saturday, August 31st, I rode with my two children on my e-bike and child trailer to the Danube beach in Feldkirchen/Donau near Weidet to spend a lovely afternoon swimming.” I parked the bike and trailer on the edge of the Danube cycle path and locked the bike with a spiral lock. I left most of the equipment in the trailer because I was planning to visit the Feldkirchen bathing lakes afterwards. “I was always able to see the bike from the beach,” says Hemmelmair.

“At 3:15 p.m. I couldn’t believe my eyes: the bike, trailer and most of my swimwear were gone.” I ran upstairs, but there was no sign of the perpetrator. I immediately called the police for help. An immediate search for the suspicious vehicle was unsuccessful. Another mystery is the fact that the spot is inaccessible by car and so the bike couldn’t be loaded onto a trailer. If the thief had come by bike, he would have had to leave it behind. The only explanation would be a perpetrator on foot or on a scooter, which the man could load into the trailer and who had been watching me in the days before, as he would have had bolt cutters or something similar with him. It is still incredibly disappointing to me how someone can rob a father with small children of all his belongings and leave him alone in the middle of nowhere,” says the father of two.
