PS Plus subscriptions explained

PS Plus offers various subscription levels, with Essential (€71.99 per year) being the smallest and cheapest. You get the free games every month, full access to online functions and some cosmetics and smaller features. With PS Plus Extra (€125.99 per year) you have access to a games library that included strong building games in June. With PS Plus Premium (€151.99 per year) you can stream old PlayStation classics, among other things.

When does the download start? From Tuesday, September 3, 2024, you can dive into the new PS+ Essentials games from around lunchtime. As always, Sony is allowing itself a little break of about a week between the announcement and the activation – enough time to consider whether to quickly save the August games for your collection or give them the digital boot. So, get the last August treasures before they disappear into the vastness of the PSN archive!

What do you think: Is August 2024 worth it? Sony could really use a direct hit: In July 2024, almost 50 percent of PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers left. The more expensive subscriptions usually contain the really strong games – in contrast to the often rather modest Essential package. Has Sony finally got its act together this month or will the August offer remain a flop?
