“Dancing with the Stars” casts a very controversial celebrity for season 33

It looks like this Anna Sorokinbetter known as Anna Delvey, swaps her orange prison jumpsuit for silk, satin and sequins when she joins the cast of the 33rd season of Dancing with the stars.

The New York City-based Russian heiress and fraudster, who was convicted of grand theft in 2019 and served time in prison until being placed under house arrest in 2021, is currently in Los Angeles, where she received special permission to travel to the hit ABC competition show, according to Page Six.

ABC has not yet confirmed her participation.

Delvey gained attention in 2019 when she was jailed after swindling more than $250,000 from banks, financial institutions and her wealthy friends in hopes of starting a members-only club. Delvey was sentenced to four to 12 years in prison, a $24,000 fine and ordered to pay restitution to her victims.

“The thing is, I’m not sorry,” she said said the New York Times one day after her conviction. “I would be lying to you, everyone else and myself if I said I was sorry about anything. I regret how I approached certain things.”

Since her release from prison on February 11, 2021 for good behavior, Delvey has been fighting extradition and has been successful so far. While she is still under house arrest, she is allowed to work, including producing a fashion show, hosting the podcast The Anna Delvey Showand released her debut single “What the Hell?” with the TikTok star I’m Brooke Butler.

In August, Delvey was also given permission to return to social media, and she currently posts as @theAnnaDelvey on Instagram.

“I am grateful and excited to be back in control of my own story on social media,” she told New York Post.

Dancing with the stars will return to ABC and Disney+ on September 17 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
