Helldivers 2 must reveal the truth about The Illuminate sooner rather than later

Helldivers 2 must reveal the truth about The Illuminate sooner rather than later

Since its launch at the beginning of the year Helldivers 2 The players have been fighting a war on two fronts: the seething hordes of Terminids to their right and the endless conveyor belt of automatons to their left. And while the balance of power between the enemies has had its ups and downs, Helldivers 2 Factions have still given the community a lot to do over the last six months, but that will likely come to an end sooner rather than later.

Veterans of the first Hell Diver title will be all too familiar with the Illuminati, the third alien faction that Super Earth has tangoed with in the past. The official story is that these squid-like, water-based ETs are dead and gone, but some early data analysis has proven that not to be the case. The eventual arrival of the Illuminati in Helldivers 2 If true, it has to be one of the worst-kept secrets in gaming, and Arrowhead should have been upfront about what’s coming next from the start.

Arrowhead should either confirm or deny the coming of the Illuminati

Pretending the Illuminati are not coming may be a lost cause

In a way, the octopus is already out of the bag. The Illuminate leaks began shortly after Helldivers 2and so far they haven’t surfaced. Whatever the reason for the datamines, the reality is that the community has known unofficially about the impending arrival of the third faction for months. The leaks have been constant and extensive, showing everything from concept art to finished in-game models.

Arrowhead may just need to bite the bullet at this point and admit the facts. Denying the existence of the Illuminate faction at this point seems unreasonable, although one could argue that Arrowhead is waiting for the perfect opportunity to make a full official reveal. The Illuminate could be part of a larger expansion for the game, so announcing them now by acknowledging the leaks wouldn’t necessarily be the best course of action for the developer. However, an announcement could allow players to have realistic expectations for the game’s future.

The Illuminate can help revive interest during Helldivers 2’s lull

The arrival of The Illuminate may be no secret, but neither is the less than stellar state of the game itself. Although it began as one of the most explosive hits of the year, Helldivers 2 has seen a lot of controversy surrounding the game’s balance in recent months. From the PSN debacle to the recent balance issues with Escalation of Freedom, the community needs a sign of confidence that the game will move in the right direction long-term.

While the largest Helldivers 2While s problems come from sources outside the game itself, there is one problem inherent to the game that can be immediately remedied by the arrival of the Illuminati: the feeling of endless repetition. Players have been fighting the same enemies more or less since launch. Sure, there were additions like the Factory Striders and Gunships for the Automatons and the Screamers and Impalers for the Terminids, but these were few and far between. The core of the game has remained largely the same since launch, and Helldivers 2 Radically new enemies may be necessary to keep players engaged while still enjoying freedom.

Helldivers might get tired of always fighting the same two factions

The confirmation and possible addition of a completely new faction would be a great incentive for Helldivers 2 Excitement. Even if the alien invasion is still a long way off, a simple confirmation of its arrival would be enough to bring players back into the game in droves to prepare and save resources for the eventual arrival of the Illuminati.

The leaks have been in the zeitgeist for months, so it’s unlikely Arrowhead will address them now; it seems company policy is not to acknowledge unofficially revealed content. Regardless, an announcement about the Illuminati has to come sooner or later. Ironically, the fate of Super Earth may simply depend on another alien invasion.
