One dead and one injured after car crash in Jefferson County against tree; Sheriff’s office investigates

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) – The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal crash that occurred Saturday evening.

According to JCSO, officers responded to a crash in the 2100 block of Flat Gap Road around 7:50 p.m. Saturday.

An investigation revealed that a 2019 Nissan Sentra was traveling north on Flat Gap Road when it left the road and struck a tree, the JCSO said.

The sheriff’s office said a woman in the back seat, identified as 45-year-old Amber Trail of Jefferson City, was dead at the scene. Additionally, a young man who was driving the car was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.

According to the sheriff’s office, these were the only two people in the car at the time of the accident.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
