Obi Ndefowho played the role of Bodie Wells Dawson’s Creek: The mysterious settingdied at the age of 51.

His death was announced on Facebook by his sister. Nkem Ndefoon Saturday, August 31st.

“I am heartbroken over the loss of my younger brother and know that he has finally found peace,” Nkem wrote under a photo of herself smiling with Obi. She did not provide any further details about his death.

Mary Margaret Humeswho played Dawson’s mother Gale Leery on the series, posted a tribute to her former co-star on Instagram on Saturday when she learned of his death.

“These words are not easy for me 💔I find it hard to comprehend that you have left us my dear friend. You were and will always be a shining light,” she wrote under a series of throwbacks to their show together. “What an example of pure, unfiltered love and tenacity you have been as you have faced life’s challenges recently. I will cherish all of our messages of love and support for one another over the past few years. Rest in peace, sweet warrior.”

Humes also tagged colleagues Dawson’s Creek: The mysterious setting Alum in her contribution, including Katie Holmes, Joshua Jackson And James Van Der Beek.

Obi’s death came several years after he lost both legs in a tragic hit-and-run accident in 2019. The actor was loading groceries into his car in Los Angeles when a drunken speeder drove into him from behind, severing his right leg and injuring his left so severely that amputation was required to save his life.

Despite the horror of what happened, Obi kept his positive attitude and continued to teach yoga classes. “What happened to me is just so horrible. Why should I make it worse by feeling bad about it?” he told Los Angeles Times in December 2019. “I didn’t even have to choose positivity.”

“How do you know how you would deal with that? How do you know what your own reserves are?” he added. “And anyway, what is the alternative?”
