Tiny kitten found with bite wound – “terrible start in life”

A seriously injured kitten was found and rescued in Cologne-Kalk. The kitten is only a few days old. It is unclear what happened.

Cologne – Just the size of a hand and weighing 82 grams. The Cologne-Dellbrück (NRW) animal shelter is currently caring for a tiny little one in particularly need of help. A few days ago, a small kitten was found in Cologne-Kalk. Where exactly it came from and what happened to the kitten is unclear. One thing is certain, however: It had a “terrible start in life,” according to the animal shelter.

“Now look at this tiny little thing,” wrote the Cologne animal shelter in an emotional Facebook post. “The kitten weighed just 82 grams when it arrived at our house.” The little kitten can only be a few days old at most, after all, kittens usually weigh between 80 and 120 grams at birth, as various animal magazines report. The little eyes are apparently still closed. And yet the Cologne kitten must have been through a lot.

“It was found in Kalk with a bite wound on its back,” the animal shelter explains. “What could have happened?” the post continues. There is also no trace of the mother cat and siblings. It was therefore taken to a veterinary clinic and given emergency care there. It was then taken to the Cologne animal shelter. It is now being nursed back to health in a foster home. “We really hope that it can gain a lot of strength there so that it can grow big and strong,” the animal shelter says.

The sympathy for the little kitten is already enormous. The post has been commented on and shared hundreds of times in just a few hours – and liked over a thousand times. “God, how terrible. Poor little innocent creature. Hopefully the little mouse will grow big and strong and have a dream family!” and “Lucky Mauzili, now you have to hold on and everything will be fine,” are some of the comments in the comment column.

But there is also speculation about what could happen to the little kitten. Two of the speculations: “Perhaps a bird caught the little one” or it was “carried away by another animal”. What the kitten actually had to go through remains unclear. For many, it is all the more important that the animal gets better soon and finds a loving home.

There are also currently a lot of kittens in other animal shelters – some even speak of a regular flood of kittens. And in Duisburg a baby cat was handed over to the police a few days ago.
