Jammu, Sept 1 (PTI) – A criminal was arrested here on Sunday along with a 12-gauge double-barrelled pistol and two live cartridges, police said.

Jeet Raj, a resident of Galwadey Chak, was arrested near his house in Marh Tehsil while he was travelling in his private vehicle, a police spokesman said.

The spokesman said that an official case had been filed at Kanachak police station and further investigations were underway to uncover his activities, his contacts and possible links to a larger network.

He said Raj’s arrest represented a crucial victory for the police in curbing the circulation of illegal firearms and ensuring the safety of the local population.
