A car overturned in an accident on the A9 near Eching on Friday evening. First responders freed the driver from the Munich district from his car. Sad: Incorrigible gawker takes photos and videos.

Eching – A 54-year-old from the Munich district was driving his car on the A 9 towards Nuremberg at around 5.40 p.m. “Between the Eching junction and the Neufahrn motorway junction, he changed lanes to the left and failed to see a taxi driven by a 61-year-old from Munich,” wrote the police. After the collision, the 54-year-old’s car, which was occupied by three people, overturned and ended up on its roof. First responders were able to get the driver out of the wreckage. But then there were unpleasant scenes, as the VPI reports: “The emergency services’ approach was made more difficult because the emergency lane was not formed and kept clear as required.” There were also gawkers at work, taking photos and filming.

The 54-year-old was flown to Harlaching Hospital by helicopter with moderate injuries. His passengers and the taxi driver were uninjured. The road was completely closed for 30 minutes for the rescue operations. Afterwards, three of the five lanes were reopened. The recovery work on the two wrecks lasted until late in the evening. Overall, the damage amounted to around 42,000 euros. As a result of the collision, both the concrete guardrail and the road were slightly damaged. The 54-year-old’s car, which was in mint condition, was a total write-off. In addition to three patrol crews from the VPI Freising, the fire departments of Eching, Dietersheim, Günzenhausen and Garching and the emergency services were on site. The Munich North motorway maintenance department was called in to secure the road and clean it.
