New Delhi, Sept 1 (PTI) – Delhi Police have arrested a domestic help for allegedly stealing jewellery from her employer’s house in south Delhi, officials said on Sunday.

Police also arrested a goldsmith who bought the stolen jewelry from her, they said.

“During investigation, the team visited the crime scene and collected more information about the incident. They also checked the CCTV footage of the crime scene and the surrounding areas. Some important clues were collected,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Ankit Chauhan. By analyzing the CCTV footage, the team was able to establish that no trespass had taken place in the complainant’s house at the time of the incident, police said.

The team also questioned the domestic helper who had been working in the house for two years and found her suspicious.

“She was arrested and confessed to her crime. During interrogation, she revealed that she was in urgent need of money. Later, she sold the jewellery to a goldsmith named Ankit Jain (31),” the DCP said.
