Carlos Sainz celebrates his 30th birthday today

We have a special birthday boy in the Formula 1 paddock today: Carlos Sainz is turning 30. ¡Feliz cumpleaños! The Spaniard could give himself the greatest present today: a victory as a Ferrari driver in Monza – for all passionate Tifosi. This would put the golden crown on his time with the Scuderia. But starting from fifth place on the grid, that will be a difficult undertaking. Numerous fans have already gathered in Monza to personally congratulate the Ferrari driver:

Spectacular comeback by Bortoleto at the main race of Formula 2 in Monza

At the Formula 2 race in Monza, Gabriel Bortoleto put on a real spectacle. Although he started from last position, he won the race. His pursuer in the championship, Zane Maloney, who started the race from pole position, finished second. Richard Verschoor completed the podium. Despite a disappointing eleventh place, Red Bull junior Isack Hadjar still leads the Formula 2 championship by 10.5 points. A safety car phase mixed up the field a little. His Prema colleagues Kimi Antonelli and Ollie Bearman came a little too close on the track and ended up in fourth and seventh place. Oliver Goethe finished sixteenth in his first F2 main race. The German was even in the lead at times, but after his pit stop he was no longer able to play a role in the battle for the top positions. Formula 2 will also be back at the next F1 weekend in Baku.

The first words of the newly crowned F3 champion

“Actually, it wasn’t my race, I have to say, because I made a lot of mistakes,” admitted Leonardo Fornaroli after third place in Monza. Nevertheless, the 2024 F3 champion looks back on his success with pride: “In the end, we managed to take third place and the championship in the last corner. It was a great season, even without a win we won the title.”

Dramatic F3 finish in Monza: Fornaroli secures the title in the last corner!

The junior classes had already warmed up the asphalt in the morning. The Formula 3 season finale is already coming up in Monza. Pole-setter Leonardo Fornaroli came third and secured the championship title. Behind winner Sami Meguetounif, there was an exciting finish. In the last corner, Fornaroli won the title with the decisive overtaking maneuver against Mansell. The Italian started the race strongly, but lost time after a trip into the gravel trap. On the penultimate lap, he was overtaken by Mansell, which meant that for one lap it looked as if Fornaroli’s compatriot Gabriele Minì was going to snatch the title from his hands at the last minute.
