Apple Watch 9 vs. Apple Watch 10: Is it worth the wait?

Apple Watch 9 vs. Apple Watch 10: Is it worth the wait?

The Apple Watch Series 10 could be bigger and “healthier”. Rumors point to new features and a revised design. Is it worth waiting for the new smartwatch or is the Series 9 still the better choice? A comparison of the generations.

Bigger, smarter, healthier: The Apple Watch 10

The rumor mill is bubbling: On September 9, Apple could also present the expected new Apple Watch Series 10 as part of its “It’s Glowtime” event.

But what can we expect from the latest generation of the popular smartwatch? And is it worth the wait, or should those interested go for the current Series 9? We have made a comparison based on rumors that have surfaced so far and are considered likely.

New design with larger display

The most noticeable change is likely to be the design. Rumors suggest that Apple will adjust the case sizes. The old 41 millimeter and 45 millimeter models could be replaced by 45 millimeter and 49 millimeter variants.

This would not only lead to larger displays – up to 2.04 inches on the largest model – but also provide more space for a larger battery. Despite the increase in size, the Series 10 is expected to be thinner. That sounds promising, but could make the integration of new health features more difficult.

New health function?

Apple has been working on implementing blood pressure and blood sugar monitoring for years. While the latter is still a long way off, blood pressure monitoring could find its way into the Series 10 – albeit with limitations. Similar to Samsung smartwatches, it would probably only be possible to detect changes in blood pressure based on regularly calibrated base values.

The possible detection of sleep apnea probably sounds much more promising and can do much more. By combining various sensor data, the watch could draw attention to this widespread sleep disorder.

Focus on performance and efficiency

Inside is the new S10 chip, which could not only bring more power but also AI functions. Together with a more efficient OLED display, the battery life could improve, possibly to up to 24 hours.

Series 9 vs. Series 10: Wait or buy?

The Series 9 is already a powerful smartwatch that doesn’t require any compromises. So you should wait for the Series 10 to be introduced and then decide for or against the new model based on your personal needs.

In addition to possible new features in the Apple Watch 10, there is another advantage: its release will lead to price reductions for the previous generation.

What comes next is uncertain

On the contrary: many of the innovations are still speculation. If key functions such as blood pressure measurement are delayed, the added value of the Series 10 might be lower than expected. An interesting detail: the first Apple Watch was introduced in 2015. In the meantime, the smartwatch has developed from a pure lifestyle product into a serious health aid. Who would have expected that?

What do you think: Is it worth waiting for the Apple Watch Series 10, or is the Series 9 the better choice? What new features would you like to see in the next generation? Share your opinion in the comments!
