Serena Williams grilled Alexis on their first date

Sports legend Serena Williams (42) doesn’t let anyone tell her what to do on the tennis court – but when it comes to love, she relies on the advice of her friends. As the 42-year-olds reveal in the latest episode of their documentary series “In the Arena” reveals, she even brought her agent and her former assistants with her on the first date between her and her husband Alexis Ohanian (41). The well-rehearsed trio really took the entrepreneur to task. He had to face a real cross-examination! “It was about two hours of questions and answers. ‘Do you have children? Are you married?'”remembers the 41-year-old.

During the nerve-wracking dinner, no question was apparently too private for the three friends. The Reddit co-founder continues: “Nothing was off limits.” […] Serena, her assistant, her agent on one side of the table, and me on the other side of the table. They bombarded me with questions.” Jill also experienced the situation in a similar way and described it very excitedly: “I wanted to know everything about him.” Serena, meanwhile, was completely in agreement with her agent grilling her now husband. “Jill asked him straight out, ‘How’s your girlfriend?’ And he replied, ‘I don’t have a girlfriend.'”the former tennis player remembers. “Then he said he had broken up with her. When he said that, everything changed because I thought: ‘Okay, now he’s not that bad guy anymore,'” the 23-time Grand Slam winner reveals with a smile.

Serena and Alexis met in May 2015 when they stayed at the same hotel in Rome. A year later, the two lovebirds got engaged. In 2017, their dream wedding followed under the Disney theme “Beauty and the Beast”. The birth of their two children finally made their love happiness complete: their eldest daughter Alexis (6) was born around the same time. The youngest, Adira, was born just last August.
