Düsseldorf/Duisburg, August 31, 2024 – Tomorrow, Sunday (3:15 p.m.), the two teams will meet for the third time this season.
In the third league game, the first “home game” of the current champions, which took place in the Niederrheinstadion in Oberhausen, the only defeat of the season came against the Bravos. In the return match in Madrid, Fire made short work of it and won clearly with 40:15.
In tomorrow’s play-off game, Rhein Fire will build on this and reach the semi-finals.

One step at a time
“We are taking one step at a time, always concentrating on the next task at hand,” says fire protection coordinator Richard Kent, “so now we are only interested in the Bravos.”
“It will be an exciting, hard-fought match, because we know all too well what the Bravos can do,” added head coach Jim Tomsula. “We respect the Bravos just as we take every opponent seriously and prepare ourselves as best as we can for every opponent. But we also know what we can do when we perform to our full potential.”

During the week without a game, some of the injuries were cured and some of the players who had stepped in according to the ‘next man up’ principle in recent weeks were able to prepare even more for their tasks.
The best example is the offensive line, which compensates for all injuries.

Lack of spectator interest at the last home game of the season?
“So far, we have had an average of well over 10,000 spectators at our home games,” says managing director Max Paatz. “Now, of all times, when everything is at stake, when it’s just a question of ‘win or lose’ in the last home game, interest is waning and we have only sold half of the tickets four days before the party,” he says, perplexed: “And we don’t know why.”
