Clark County Schools employee faces 11 counts of unauthorized transactions and minor charges

WINCHESTER, Kentucky (WKYT) – According to court documents, Rebecca Boyd is accused of 11 counts of illegal dealings with minors.

Dustin Howard, superintendent of Clark County Public Schools, confirmed to WKYT that Boyd is an employee of Phoenix Academy. He would not confirm Boyd’s role at the school. Howard said Boyd has been placed on leave pending further investigation into the matter.

Boyd’s indictment states that she had 10 high school students over for her son’s birthday party on the evening of August 7. It says the students “consumed significant amounts of alcohol,” which also led to an investigation into sexual assault.

Winchester police said the sexual assault investigation is ongoing. No one else has been arrested or charged.

According to Boyd’s statement to Winchester police, she said she knew the children had been drinking and took most of their car keys. Videos from that night showed the children engaging in sexual activity, destroying furniture, playing beer pong for long periods of time, and at least one child lying unconscious in Boyd’s front yard.

Dustin Howard, superintendent of Clark County Public Schools, sent WKYT the following statement:

“We are aware of a recent development involving a Phoenix Academy employee. We have learned that this employee has been charged in connection with an incident that occurred off school property over the summer when classes were cancelled. In response, the employee has been placed on leave pending further investigation and resolution of the matter.

Please be assured that the safety and well-being of our students is our top priority and we are committed to maintaining a safe and supportive environment.

Thank you for your understanding and continued trust in Clark County Public Schools.”
