Five injured in car accident – ​​including children

Five people were injured in a serious traffic accident in the Main-Kinzig district. According to police, two small children were among the victims of the head-on collision.

The two cars collided on state road 3008 at midday. For reasons unknown, the 29-year-old driver left the road near Schöneck-Kilianstädten and collided head-on with an oncoming car. The 34-year-old driver of the second car and her two one- and seven-year-old children suffered serious injuries from the force of the impact, police reported.

The mother was slightly injured. A rescue helicopter took the toddler to a hospital with severe head injuries. The older child, a seven-year-old boy, had to be taken to hospital in an ambulance because of several broken legs. The suspected cause of the accident and his 26-year-old passenger were also taken to nearby hospitals with suspected internal bleeding and multiple trauma.

An expert was called in to reconstruct the exact course of events of the accident. In this context, both completely damaged vehicles were also secured. The total damage is estimated at 50,000 euros. The road was completely closed from midday until around 4:45 p.m.
