More about the Regionalliga Nordost

Greifswalder FC recently won two games. However, the chemists suffered their first setback of the current season on the last matchday with their first defeat at Hertha Zehlendorf. The guests got off to a better start. A corner found Strietzel in the middle, who headed the ball in powerfully from a few meters (4th). The guests continued to dominate the proceedings with long periods of possession and an overall confident performance.

The second goal was not long in coming. Schmedemann’s deep pass bypassed the entire Leipzig defense, and Benyamina shot into the bottom right corner for Greifswald’s second goal (22′). Shortly afterwards, Brandt followed just over the goal, his attempt flying just over the Chemie goal (25′). Towards the end of the first half, the chemists also had their first chance. However, neither Ratifo’s header nor Brügmann’s free kick found their way into the opponent’s goal due to a lack of precision (40′).

Mäder brings excitement

After the break, the hosts initially managed to curb the visitors’ attacking efforts somewhat, but they also had few chances to score. A shot from Kirstein from a tight angle was a real thrill (53′). It was only after a good hour that things became dangerous again. After a corner from the visitors, Schmedemann had a shot in the penalty area, but the ball flew just wide of the goal (60′). On the other side, Rüth’s header was saved by Jakubov (66′).

With a quarter of an hour to go, Mäder made things exciting again when he shot low into the far corner after a pass from Ratifo (75th minute). A shot from Bunge narrowly missed the visitors’ goal a short time later. Farr missed the chance to decide the game, but was stopped by Bellot (81st minute). In the final minutes, the chemists threw everything forward again, but the equalizer failed to come and the visitors from Greifswald celebrated their third victory in a row.
