2nd League: Anaesthesia on the pitch – injury shock in Elversberg

2nd League: Anaesthesia on the pitch – injury shock in Elversberg

SV Elversberg’s victory over Darmstadt 98 is spoiled by a player’s serious injury. The professional is given an anesthetic while still on the pitch. World Champion Miroslav Klose’s team is blamed in Nuremberg – HSV beats Münster.

The second division match between SV Elversberg and Darmstadt 98, which the hosts won 4-0 (2-0), had to be interrupted for a long time due to a medical emergency on the pitch. Elversberg defender Florian Le Joncour fell awkwardly on his forearm after a header duel. He apparently injured himself badly and had to be treated on the pitch for several minutes afterwards.

The pain was said to have been so great that the 29-year-old was given an anesthetic on the pitch. The game was interrupted for around 20 minutes.

Stewards cordoned off the penalty area with cloths while doctors and staff treated Le Joncour. He was taken off the pitch with a tragedy to the applause of the spectators and then driven out of the stadium in an ambulance. At the time of the break, Elversberg was leading 3-0.

Luca Schnellbacher (5th minute) and Fisnik Asllani (20th/59th) had scored the goals for the hosts up to that point. Elversberg’s Filimon Gerezgiher put the finishing touch to the match against an overwhelmed opponent with his first goal (90th) to make it 4-0.

1. FC Nuremberg – 1. FC Magdeburg 0:4

In Nuremberg, coach Miroslav Klose and 1. FC Nuremberg suffered their first bitter home defeat in the 2nd Bundesliga. In a one-sided duel with two momentous decisions by the video referee, the Franconians are completely deservedly ahead 0:4 (0:1) against a savvy 1. FC Magdeburg after a disappointing performance.

Klose’s unimaginative team slipped to 13th place in the table with another four points, while the guests coached by Christian Titz temporarily climbed to third place in the relegation zone with eight points.

The deficit came out of nowhere. The dangerous Martijn Kaars robustly prevailed in a duel against Florian Flick, and Xavier Amaechi (24th) converted the cross pass with a follow-up shot against the strongly reacting Nuremberg goalkeeper Jan Reichert. The goal also stood up to a review by the video referee. In the 38th minute, Cologne’s Keller was called upon again. Nuremberg’s Julian Justvan had already set up the ball for a penalty, but the video referee overturned the alleged foul by Jean Hugonet and Lukas Schleimer.

With a clean shot from the edge of the penalty area, Livan Burcu (65th) sealed Klose’s team’s second defeat of the season in front of 31,581 spectators. In the 73rd minute, the 19-year-old striker even had the chance to make it 3-0. Alexander Nollenberger (84th) made up for it with a fantastic long-range shot before Philipp Hercher (90th+2) put the finishing touches on the game.

Hamburger SV – Preußen Münster 4:1

Hamburger SV celebrated a clear home victory against newly promoted Preußen Münster in the 2nd Bundesliga. In the first competitive match between the two teams in almost exactly 50 years, the Hanseatics won 4:1 (3:0).

The Hamburg goals were scored by Robert Glatzel (7th minute, 45th+1), Daniel Elfadli (26th) and Moritz Heyer (64th) in the once again sold-out Volksparkstadion with 57,000 spectators. Torge Paetow (58th) was successful for Münster.

HSV coach Steffen Baumgart had restructured the team after the 0:1 defeat at Hannover 96. Due to captain Sebastian Schonlau’s yellow-red card suspension, Elfadli, who had recovered from an ankle injury, moved into defence. In midfield, the 19-year-old homegrown player Fabio Baldé played in place of Ludovit Reis, while Glatzel made his debut in the starting eleven this season, replacing Davie Selke. Changes that paid off with the first goal.
