Liverpool have a nightmarish run of games ahead that will see them host Real Madrid and Man City in back-to-back matches after their Champions League schedule was confirmed upon their return to the tournament. Arne Slot’s men learned their eight opponents in Thursday’s draw following the revised expansion of Europe’s elite club competition.

Liverpool endured a tough draw, finding themselves hosting reigning champions Real Madrid, Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen, Lille OSC and Bologna, as well as away games at RB Leipzig, AC Milan, PSV Eindhoven and Girona.

However, they had to wait until Saturday to find out in what order their league matches would be played and how they would fit into their overall schedule, as UEFA has now confirmed the fixture list for the league phase.
