37 players gone: Chelsea’s summer transfers at a glance

61 days, 49 transfers: Chelsea FC was once again unstoppable this summer. Who came? Who went? An attempt at an overview.

“I’m glad that UEFA has put in an international break right after the transfer window,” joked Bayern sporting director Max Eberl on Friday, “deadline day.” But what should the decision-maker at Chelsea FC say? According to their own statements, they completed a whopping 49 transfers in the summer transfer window, which, extrapolated over the 61-day period, means 0.8 per day.

Above all, the Blues worked hard to reduce the size of their huge squads and to do so they increased the pressure on the large group of players who had been eliminated. It can now be said that this controversial strategy was successful – the club got rid of numerous players on deadline day alone.

And so the number of players sold far exceeds the number of players signed. The reason Racing Strasbourg keeps cropping up is because the Ligue 1 club, like Chelsea, is owned by Todd Boehly and his consortium. Some players are both arrivals and departures at the same time.

Chelsea signed these twelve players:
