AirTag alternative back at Aldi: This GPS tracker is better than the Apple version

AirTag alternative back at Aldi: This GPS tracker is better than the Apple version

BARGAIN

This week, Aldi is once again offering the popular GPS tracker from Copenhagen Trackers in its online shop. With it, you can quickly find objects anywhere.

Bluetooth trackers have been a mass product since the release of Apple’s AirTag. However, they have one disadvantage compared to GPS trackers: They either only work within Bluetooth range or work according to the community principle – if a stranger’s iPhone passes by an AirTag, it transmits its location. This significantly increases the range.

This is of little use to you, however, if you lose or forget an item in a remote area, such as your backpack on a hike. A GPS tracker is better suited for this, provided it has a satellite and cellular connection.

The popular GPS tracker from Copenhagen Trackers is on offer again this week in Aldi’s online shop. The discounter sells it from time to time, but sometimes it sells out quickly.

The tracker comes with a free data SIM card that can be used within the EU, Switzerland and Norway at no extra cost. There are no subscription fees.

Long battery life, waterproof

The tracker’s battery life is up to four years or 4,000 tracks. The frequency of tracking can be set using different profiles. The tracker can send a message to its location every 10 or 15 minutes, or alternatively just once an hour or once a day.

With dimensions of 6.4 x 6.4 x 2.3 centimeters, the device is very small and, thanks to IP67, also waterproof. Find your tracker via apps for iOS and Android as well as an online platform – you are also flexible.

However, there are also disadvantages compared to Bluetooth trackers. On the one hand, there are no warnings about stalking, and GPS trackers do not work indoors due to the lack of a satellite connection.

  • No fees or subscriptions

  • Up to 4 years battery life

  • Free tracking within the EU, Switzerland and Norway

The GPS tracker Cobblestone is currently available at Aldi for 100 euros. The recommended retail price is just under 140 euros. Although the tracker is significantly more expensive than an AirTag, for example, the device also offers great advantages through precise location even in remote areas.
