Apple TV+ announces second season of “Criminal Record” with Peter Capaldi

Apple TV+ has built up its portfolio at an impressive pace this year, and it’s hard to keep up. The hit rate is surprisingly high, and the thriller series “Criminal Record” has also convinced fans and critics alike. Fans can look forward to more.

Second season will come

The series thrives on the tension between the two main characters, which is not only due to the significant age differences. Although Peter Capaldi and Cush Jumbo, or the characters they play, both work as detectives in London, their motivations cannot be different. This gives the plot an exciting complexity that will now be continued in the second season. According to the press release, Apple TV+ is unusually forthcoming with information about the plot of the second season:

In the second season, June is the most senior official on the scene when a political rally is attacked by far-right counter-protesters. A young man is killed in the violent confrontation and June, wracked with guilt, is determined to bring the unknown killer to justice. Her best hope seems to be Daniel, who has now become a key figure in the shadowy world of police intelligence. He may have the answers she needs, but to get his help she must make a dangerous deal.

When it comes to the release date, however, the streaming service is again quite tight-lipped. Since the season finale of the first season aired towards the end of February 2024, we think a launch in January 2025 is quite realistic.
