TROY, NH (WHDH) – Police have released the identities of the shooter and two victims in Thursday’s double murder and subsequent standoff that ended with officers shooting the suspect on the Piscataqua River Bridge.

According to the New Hampshire State Police, police received a 911 call before sunrise Thursday from 37-year-old Trent Weston of Troy, New Hampshire, who said he had shot his wife.

Police rushed to her home at 359 Monadnock Street and found 37-year-old Brittany Weston dead from multiple gunshot wounds to the head, police said.

Shortly afterward, Maine police officers found Trent Weston’s vehicle parked in the southbound lane in the middle of the Piscataqua River Bridge, officials said.

After hours of negotiations, Trent Weston got out of his car and raised a gun, Maine State Police Colonel Bill Ross said at a press conference Thursday.

Officials said police shot Trent Weston and he was found dead in the water beneath the bridge with multiple gunshot wounds.

After the shooting, authorities found the couple’s 8-year-old son, Benson Weston, dead in the back seat of the car, police said. Benson Weston was found with multiple gunshot wounds, according to police.

Autopsies were performed on all three family members and investigators concluded that Trent Weston was responsible for the deaths of his wife and son, police said.

The double murder and police shooting remain under investigation.
