Bornreihe is warned about Cuxhaven

It is not uncommon for a newly promoted team to play a role that exceeds expectations in its first season. The euphoria surrounding promotion to the Lüneburg regional football league certainly plays a role in RW Cuxhaven’s good start, says Tom Pretzel, but for the assistant coach of SV Blau-Weiß Bornreihe, it is not the only one. He speaks of a well-positioned opponent with coach Lars Uder at the helm, who has already gained experience in higher leagues at Heeslinger SC and SV Drochtersen/Assel.

The “Moorteufel” are also being warned when they host the promoted team from Cuxhaven for a home game on Sunday (3 p.m.). Two teams that have won three out of four games will meet. A convincingly satisfactory start for the Oberliga relegated team, but coach Markus Werle had already said after the recent victory at MTV Römstedt that the real tests are still to come – and by that he meant the Cuxhaven team too.

Assistant coach Tom Pretzel also speaks of the first test, one that attracted attention with the recent 3-1 win against TuS Harsefeld and is very compact in a 4-1-4-1 system, as Pretzel explains. An average of more than two goals scored shows that the Cuxhaven team has a certain offensive strength, especially since they scored an impressive 109 goals in their promotion season. “We will have to invest everything,” says Tom Pretzel.

The home team will have to make do without Philip Bähr and Justin Schmidt – probably for a longer period. Schmidt, who has not played so far, will be out for two to four weeks following an operation, while Bähr suffered a torn muscle fiber. There is a small question mark over the participation of Jeremy da Rocha Nunes. He had back pain during the week.
