UP Police Recruitment 6.91 lakh take exam on penultimate day 22 – The Week

Lucknow, Aug 30 (PTI) – On the fourth and penultimate day of the Uttar Pradesh Police recruitment exam, 6,91,936 candidates appeared amid tight security at 1,174 centres in 67 districts of the state, officials said on Friday.
The police arrested 22 people, filed 19 reports of attempted exam manipulation and identified 94 suspects, it said.
Because there are rumors of leaks regarding several important documents, police recruitment exams are held in strict secrecy.
“On the fourth day of the exam, 691,936 candidates appeared at 1,174 exam centers across the state. During the checks, 94 suspects were identified. To ensure the integrity of the exam, the police registered 19 FIRs in connection with attempts to hack the exam and arrested 22 persons,” an official statement said.
Three of these FIRs were filed in Saharanpur, where four of the arrested persons were arrested, it said.
Rajiv Krishna, chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board, said the candidates appeared in two shifts.
“In the first shift, 344,590 candidates appeared while 401,870 had downloaded their admit cards. During this shift, 61 suspect candidates were identified, but they were still allowed to appear in the exam. The recruitment committee will closely monitor their activities,” Krishna said.
“In the second shift, 347,346 candidates appeared while 401,972 had downloaded their admit cards. In this shift too, 33 suspicious candidates were identified. Though they were admitted to the exam, the board will continue to monitor them even after the exam,” he added.
Officials said police were stationed at each centre and candidates were allowed entry only after three security checks. The five-day exercise, which began last week, will end on Saturday.
The new recruitment exercise to fill more than 60,000 positions became necessary after the exams scheduled to take place on February 17 and 18 had to be cancelled due to allegations of document leaks.
The Uttar Pradesh State Transport Corporation is providing free bus services to the candidates, including free rides in electric buses in several districts.
