What caught players’ attention was a special detail: Kojima runs the game on a mysterious device that he covered with a black cloth. Players are convinced that this is the PlayStation 5 Pro development kit.

On his X-Account, Hideo Kojima stated that he Death Stranding 2: On the Beach to review the gameplay, UI, graphics, sound, effects and other important elements to provide a great experience for players. He takes notes and sends them to the development team, who make the necessary adjustments based on his feedback.

Fans eagerly awaiting the sequel were thrilled by Kojima’s comment, but another detail fueled their excitement: the system the creator is playing on is hidden for unknown reasons.

For this reason, many speculated that it could possibly be a PlayStation 5 Pro development kit, as otherwise the developer would not have to hide the hardware, which he regularly does in his photos.

Tom Henderson, a well-known journalist and industry insider, is not so convinced. He explained that the PlayStation 5 Pro development kit looks exactly like the one of the original console, so there is no particular reason to hide it. He believes Kojima kept it secret because of the “mystery” that always surrounds development kits, and not for any other reason.

Nevertheless, Kojima’s fans are convinced that he is testing Death Stranding 2: On the Beach on the supposedly more powerful version of Sony’s console. If the system is confirmed, it makes perfect sense that the sequel will be one of the titles enhanced to take full advantage of the technology.

According to this week’s leaks, the PlayStation 5 Pro is set to be unveiled sometime in the first half of September. At the time of writing, Sony has not confirmed the existence of the hardware.
