Police arrive at scene of second shooting in North Avondale within 12 hours

CINCINNATI (WXIX) – Cincinnati police said they are at the scene of a fatal shooting in North Avondale, the second shooting in the same block within 12 hours.

The incident was reported shortly after 7:30 a.m. Friday on Reading Road and Burton Avenue.

Officers were called to the area on a report of a disturbance and found a man lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the abdomen, Cincinnati Police Sergeant Steven Hoerst said.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

His name and age were not disclosed.

Police say the 3700 block of Reading Road will be closed for hours during the investigation.

Police confirmed this was the second shooting in the 3700 block of Reading Road within 12 hours late Thursday and early Friday.

On Thursday around 7:40 p.m., police found a man in his thirties with a gunshot wound to the chest.

He was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

According to a police spokesman, officers arrested a possible suspect and his vehicle.
