2 dead after shooting near concrete plant in Rockville, Maryland

Two people were killed in a shooting near a concrete plant in Rockville, Maryland, early Thursday morning, Montgomery County police told 7News Maryland bureau chief Brad Bell.

Officials said they were called to a shooting in an industrial area in the 14900 block of Southlawn Lane in Rockville shortly before 8 a.m. when they found a 60-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds.

Moments later, investigators began searching for a gray Toyota Tacoma, police said in a news release. The vehicle was found five minutes later at the corner of Southlawn Lane and Avery Road. When officers approached the car, they found a 54-year-old man with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

During the investigation, police discovered that the 54-year-old had shot the 60-year-old, who was working in the area.

Both men were taken to hospitals where they were later pronounced dead. The medical examiner’s office is expected to determine the manner and cause of death.

Officials told Bell that the 54-year-old man was wanted in connection with the non-fatal shooting of a woman in Laurel.

The investigation is ongoing and 7News is working to learn more details. Montgomery County Police said this is an isolated incident.

Laurel police said they are investigating the shooting in connection with a domestic violence incident Wednesday evening.
