House in Hyde Park district burns down

SHREVEPORT, Louisiana (KSLA) – A home on Blue Spruce Drive caught fire while the owners were away.

On August 29 at 8:36 a.m., the Shreveport Fire Department (SFD) responded to a fire emergency in the 9200 block of Blue Spruce Drive in the Hyde Park neighborhood. When they arrived, firefighters saw heavy smoke coming from the front of the home and fire in the back of the home.

The fire was under control within 23 minutes. 27 firefighters were deployed to fight the flames.

The homeowners were not on site when the fire broke out. The American Red Cross received information about the fire to assist the victims.

No injuries were reported, SFD says. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

SFD thanks the neighbor who noticed the fire while the family was away and called 911.
