Spin-off “Wizards of Waverly Place” conjures up a spooky release date

Your favorite wizards are back, just in time for the spooky season. For fans of the Disney hit Wizards of Waverly PlaceThis Halloween just got even more special as Disney has officially announced the premiere date for the new sequel series. Wizards Beyond Waverly PlaceThe show brings back familiar faces, including Selena Gomezwhich gave the show its worldwide breakthrough. The highly anticipated series will premiere on Disney Channel with two episodes on Tuesday, October 29th at 8:00 p.m. EDT. The next day, Wednesday, October 30th, the first eight episodes will be available on Disney+ and Disney Channel On Demand.




The original, fan-favorite, Emmy-winning series centers on the Russo family and their three young children, who learn the ways of the wizarding world from their father, Jerry (David DeLuise). The show was full of funny moments as the kids tried to outdo themselves to become the best magician in the family. Then there were the sandwiches at the sandwich shop and the usual teenage love problems that made the show a TV favorite from 2007 to 2012.

This time, the sequel series will catapult us into the future, where the children are now grown and living their own lives. According to Disney’s official synopsis, the sequel will “feature adult Justin Russo, who has chosen to live a normal, mortal life with his family, Giada, Roman and Milo. When Justin’s sister Alex brings Billie home to seek help, Justin realizes he must brush up on his magical skills to mentor the wizard-in-training while also managing his everyday duties – and securing the future of the wizarding world.” In new photos from Disney, the Russo siblings are seen holding wands, ready for more wizarding action.



Who else will return for Wizards Beyond Waverly Place?

Besides Gomez David Henrie also returns as her brother Justin. Her father Jerry will also return in the sequel series, with David DeLuise reprising his role. It will be interesting to see how his relationship with the children has developed over the years. Gomez’ Alex Russo will make a guest appearance in the first episode. The cast also includes Janice LeAnn Brown (as Billie), Alkaio Thiele (as Roman Russo), Max Matenko (as Milo Russo), Taylor Cora (as winter) and Mimi Gianopulos (as Giada Russo).


Gomez and Henrie, who have spent years thinking about the right plot for the series’ return, serve as executive producers of the show. Several other Disney stars have been hired to do camera work, with Rabe-Symoné (Raven’s Home) And Danielle Fishel (Life and I) directed the episodes of the first season. The writers of the series include Jed Elinoff And Scott Thomaswith Gary Marsh And Jonas Agin Completing the team of executive producers.

Following the premiere on Disney Channel, two new episodes – including a Halloween episode – will premiere on Disney Channel on Wednesday, October 30. Starting November 8, episode premieres will also move to Fridays at 8:00 p.m. EDT, with two episodes per week.
