Pasco County officers involved in shooting while executing federal arrest warrants

PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – Officers with the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) were involved in a shooting Thursday while attempting to locate a suspect on a federal warrant.

Officers attempted to stop the suspect and a short chase began, however, PCSO quickly ended the pursuit.

Officers later located the suspect in the River Ridge area and were involved in a shootout while attempting to apprehend him.

Schools in the area were granted controlled campus status for a short time “out of an abundance of caution.”

Authorities said the suspect was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

PCSO stated that this was an isolated incident and there was no danger to the public.
