2025 NASCAR Cup Series schedule released; Mexico City on the schedule – SportsTravel

The NASCAR Cup Series announced its 2025 schedule on Thursday. The plan includes 38 races, including two historic exhibition tracks, 36 points-paying events and the series’ first trip to Mexico City for a points race in the modern era.

The Cup Series year begins with “The Clash” at Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston Salem, North Carolina — which hosted 29 Cup Series races from 1958 to 1971 — with a non-points exhibition race on February 2. It is the Cup Series’ first competitive visit to the .25-mile track in 54 years.

Two weeks later, the regular season begins on February 16 with the 67th Daytona 500. Early-season changes include a visit to the Circuit of The Americas in Austin, Texas, on March 2 and a spring race on March 23 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

The most significant addition to the 2025 NASCAR calendar is a trip to Mexico City on June 15 for a points race at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, the first points race outside the United States since July 1958.

“It’s no secret that we are optimistic about growing NASCAR beyond our borders, and the 2025 schedule is an important and exciting first milestone on that journey,” said Ben KennedyNASCAR Executive Vice President, Chief Venue and Racing Innovation Officer. “In addition to racing in Mexico, we were able to bring back other historic and fan-favorite venues to our national series for the first time in decades. This combination of venues will not only keep the excitement and anticipation for NASCAR racing high, but will also provide one of the most varied and challenging schedules in all of motorsports.”

The Xfinity Series, which was held in Mexico City from 2005 to 2008, will join the Cup Series and compete south of the U.S. border on June 14.

The host event will be Darlington Raceway in South Carolina on April 6, followed by Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee on April 13. The NASCAR All Star Weekend will take place from May 16 to 18 at North Wilkesboro Speedway in North Carolina.

Amazon Prime Video’s coverage of a five-race stretch begins Memorial Day weekend, starting with the Coca-Cola 600 on May 25 at Charlotte Motor Speedway before moving on to Nashville Superspeedway on June 1. Michigan International Speedway, Mexico City and Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pennsylvania, also host events in June.

NASCAR’s first five-race season begins June 28 at Atlanta Motor Speedway, then moves to the Chicago Street Course on July 6 before moving on to Sonoma Raceway in California (July 13), Dover (Delaware) Motor Speedway on July 20 and Indianapolis Motor Speedway on July 27 to conclude with the Brickyard 400.

The last three races of the regular season will take place in August: on August 3 at the Iowa Speedway, on August 10 in Watkins Glen (New York), on August 16 at the Richmond (Virginia) Raceway and on August 23 the finale of the regular season at the Daytona International Speedway.

The 2025 postseason begins on August 31 in Darlington with the Southern 500 on Labor Day weekend kicking off the Round of 16. World Wide Technology Raceway in Madison, Illinois, is in the NASCAR playoffs for the first time and will host the second race of the opening round on September 7 before the first elimination race on September 13 in Bristol.

New Hampshire Motor Speedway returns to the postseason for the first time since 2017, hosting the opener of the Round of 12. Kansas Speedway and the Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval will then close the round.

Las Vegas Motor Speedway will host the opening race of the Round of Eight before the Cup Series moves to Talladega Superspeedway before the penultimate race of the season at Martinsville Speedway in Virginia, which will determine the fourth half of the championship standings.

The season then ends on November 2nd at Phoenix Raceway with the NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race.
